Pavement Preservation Project Begins Along HWY 49



If you've traveled near Brookland recently, you may have noticed the appearance of some orange cones along HWY 49. ARDOT recently began a pavement preservation project for sections of HWY 49 and 49B. The department will overlay HWY 49 from Pine Log Rd. to Whitley Rd and HWY 49B from Jessica Ln. southward to HWY 49.

City of Brookland Looks to Extend Bond Measure for Local Projects


The citizens of Brookland will soon vote on whether or not to extend a bond measure established in 2015.  If approved by the people of Brookland, the generated funds will be put towards a new baseball/softball complex, a new municipal building to hold both city hall and the police department, and various sewer system improvement projects. This vote is scheduled to occur on June 8, 2021.

New Addition to Craighead Forrest Park



Those of you planning to visit Craighead Forest Park in the future will be able to view the lake from a new vantage! A new overlook has been constructed behind Joe Martin Pavilion. Just another great reason to visit our local parks!


Intersection Improvements at Highland & Caraway Near Completion


Work on the intersection at Caraway & Highland is all but finished. The project should alleviate traffic congestion by adding an additional left-turn lane on all four sides of the intersection.  Additionally, the installation of sidewalks and crosswalk markings should allow for safer travel of pedestrians in the area.

I-555 Improvements

I-555 Rehabilitation Continues



Work continues on the I-555 rehabilitation project as traffic has been shifted to the completed northbound lanes. Demolition of the existing concrete in the southbound lanes began recently. The completed project will include completely reconstructed roadway along I-555 from E. Nettleton Avenue to Southwest Drive.

New Ramps from I-555 to Red Wolf Boulevard


Work has officially begun on two new ramps at Red Wolf Boulevard and I-555. The ramps will prevent drivers from turning left across Red Wolf as they exit from I-555. We can expect that this project will improve both traffic flow and safety. At this time the work on this project is not expected to significantly impact current traffic.
